Promotion au 8ème dan de Jujitsu.

Lors de mon dernier stage à Spencer (USA) sous la direction du Maître Leon JAY, Dave CASTOLDI (10° dan de Jujitsu) m'avait demandé mon grade en Jujitsu et je lui avais répondu que j'avais été nommé 7ème dan par le grand maître Minoru MOCHIZUKI il y a une bonne quinzaine d'années avant le décès de celui-ci. Il m'avait alors dit qu'il allait "examiner" mon cas.

J'ai reçu il y a quelques jours le message suivant de sa secrétaire :

Hello Jean-Paul;

Greeting from Professor Castoldi and please pardon the lateness of my reply. I wanted to answer you clearly as it is an important question you have asked.

Your promotion is in Jujitsu. It is not in a specific system per se but as a practitioner of the art. This is certified and attested to by Professor Castoldi and the following Professors who will be signing your diploma:

Professor Joe Souza 10th dan, Grandmaster and founder of Kensujitsu

Professor Tony Maynard 10th dan, Grandmaster and founder of American Combat Jujitsu

Professor Richard Bunch 9th dan of the Nikko Jujitsu School

Professor Castoldi has arranged and formed this Congress of Professors for the sole purpose of reviewing your situation. In light of the passing of Master Minoru Mochizuki, leaving you without an avenue to advance in rank, these Professors are promoting you in his absence.

These Professors have been the very close students and associates of Professor Wally Jay and form a large part of the leadership of Jujitsu America. To be clear, this is not a Jujitsu America rank nor is it a rank in these Professor’s own systems. I mention this because I know that you are a Small Circle man and associated with Professor Leon Jay. If you were to contact Professor Jay he would speak very highly of these old friends of his and of his father. They are top Jujitsu men here in the United States and their names carry much authority.

Je l'ai eu mon diplôme et ça fait toujours plaisir. Il y a plus de quinze ans que Minoru MOCHIZUKI m'avait décerné le 7ème dan de Jujitsu...

On arrosera ça au mois d'août avec Dave Castoldi.

Toutes mes félicitations. Depuis le temps que tu consacres ta vie aux arts martiaux tu méritais bien ça.
Et en plus le diplôme était offert ce qui nous change des diplômes de la DKI.
